Frequently Asked Questions
FAQs
How much does a trip to New Zealand Cost?
It’s tough to nail down how much a trip costs because they are all very different and very custom. I talk about cost in this 7 Day Custom Itinerary to one of the most popular regions on the South Island.
How much advance notice do I need to plan my trip?
It depends on when you are going and how flexible the itinerary can be. For trips in high season, the more notice, the better. For a low-stress planning process, 3-4 months is ideal. For Opal itinerary planning, we need 4-6 months to plan your trip. For coaching service, as long as you can get on my calendar, you can do it last minute.
When is the best time to visit New Zealand?
New Zealand is a year-round destination with skiing and snow sports in the winter months and biking, hiking, boating, and water sports in summer. The high season is during the summer (December – February) with a bump in tourism during the winter (June – August). The shoulder seasons are my favorite when there are fewer tourists and yet, it’s still a nice temperature and lots of things to do.
Can you book a Campervan for me?
We do not book Campervans for guests. There are many options, sizes, and different levels of comfort available. If you do rent a camper van be sure it is self-contained, meaning, it has a bathroom.
What is the exchange rate for the New Zealand Dollar?
This Currency Converter is a handy tool when researching currencies.
How long does it take to fly to New Zealand?
Of course, times vary based on where you are flying from, but a good rule of thumb is to plan a 13-hour flight from the west coast of the US (Los Angeles) and an 18-hour flight from the east coast (New York).
Are their fun, family friendly activities for children?
Yes! There is so much to do in New Zealand! From playing in the surf and sand to ski or sledding down scenic mountain terrain. There is a ton of biking options including road riding, bike parks, down-hill, and bike paths. New Zealand is a very kid-friendly country with just about anything your child wants to do!
I'm not super active, will I still enjoy visiting New Zealand?

In select areas of the country, you will find easy hikes in the mountains and along the beach as well as bike ride options. There is so much for you to do and see!
Are there luxury accommodations available for my Honeymoon?
